The team values openness, equality, and digital innovation that makes a measurable impact.</p><h3>The Role: DevOps Engineer (Mid-Level)</h3><p>As the DevOps Engineer, you'll lead the design, optimization, and automation of scalable infrastructure across both cloud and on-premise platforms. Reporting to the CTO, this role blends hands-on technical execution with strategic input, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing systems that support impactful digital products.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead and mentor the DevOps function, fostering collaboration and technical growth.</li><li>Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud and on-premise infrastructure.</li><li>Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for faster and more reliable deployments.</li><li>Manage AWS environments to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and cost efficiency.</li><li>Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.</li><li>Enhance observability with effective monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.</li><li>Automate recurring processes to improve reliability and productivity.</li><li>Ensure compliance with security best practices and disaster recovery standards.</li><li>Collaborate with product and data teams to align infrastructure with business goals.</li></ul><h3>About You</h3><ul><li>5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, or Site Reliability Engineering.</li><li>Strong background in Linux systems, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and SQL.</li><li>Expertise in AWS (or Azure/GCP) infrastructure and automation.</li><li>Skilled in Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.</li><li>Understanding of RESTful APIs, networking, and modern security standards.</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.</li><li>AWS certification is advantageous.</li><li>Curious, collaborative, and driven by impact and technical excellence.</li></ul><h3>Perks &amp; Benefits</h3><ul><li>Fully remote position (South Africa-based).</li><li>Four-day work week (Fridays off).</li><li>Professional development support.</li><li>Monthly therapy stipend.</li><li>WiFi reimbursement and UPS contribution.</li><li>22 days of annual leave.</li></ul><p>Originally posted on <a href="https://himalayas.app">Himalayas</a></p>
