Who We're Looking For

We are looking to hire a Senior Systems Administrator to join our High Performance Computing team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully working with Linux operating systems and administration in enterprise environments. Additionally, they should possess strong scripting language skills and demonstrate a keen interest in learning about the High Performance Computing space.

The candidate's technical proficiency should be complemented by a consultant mindset, including excellent communication skills, a problem-solving mentality, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude in high-pressure situations. Overall, we are looking for a candidate who is excited about being part of a high performing group and will be energized to help the HPC Operations team succeed.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage and administer Cray XC30/40 and Shasta systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.

Utilize expert-level knowledge to troubleshoot and support Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, including setup and management of NetApp storage devices.

Maintain proficiency in Windows server environments and demonstrate expertise in supporting key engineering applications on Cray, Linux, and Windows servers.

Manage FlexLM and license management systems on UNIX and Windows platforms.

Employ expert-level knowledge of PBS and job scheduling techniques to optimize workload management.

Administer and configure UNIX/Linux systems, ensuring up-to-date patch management and security vulnerability remediation.

Utilize container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for efficient application deployment and management.

Collaborate with client management at all levels to address infrastructure needs and provide best-in-class support.

Demonstrate expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, HP and Dell server hardware, and the Cray Linux Environment.

Setup, configure, and manage Linux-based clusters and provide support for third-party HPC software.

Utilize expertise in database setup and query formation in Oracle or MySQL environments.

Apply programming skills in languages such as sh, csh, J2EE, PERL, CGI, HTML, C/C++, and Python to enhance and develop applications.

Manage VMWare, VM ESXi, and VDI environments, including administration of VMWare VDI using vRA and vRO.

Support and troubleshoot DDN and Lustre filesystems, and maintain familiarity with object storage technologies.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for escalations related to standard HPC infrastructure and software, and provide proficient support for Infiniband networks and their supporting infrastructure.

Some Must-Haves

7+ years of experience with Linux

Scripting with Python, Bash, or Perl

Experience with storage administration with NetApp or possessing basic knowledge of RAID, storage concepts (aggregates, volumes, qtrees), security (NFS and CIFS)

Experience with license managers (Flex and RLM)

Knowledge of virtualization solutions and techniques

Experience with batch schedulers (PBS, Slurm, and/or Platform LSF)

Basic web knowledge (http, xml)

Experience in maintaining an enterprise environment with mixed operating systems

Experience with HPC

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

High level experience with HP server hardware, remote iLo support and base configurations

Proficient with Docker, container technologies, Kubernetes and/or Docker Swarm.

Demonstrated high level of proficiency in VMWare, VM ESXi, VDI setup and administration.

Other Information

The work hours will be approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST, depending on workload, with the occasional late night when a tight deadline calls for it. We work for security-conscious clients, thus background checks will be required. Salary dependent upon experience.
