(Senior) Autonomous Flight Software Engineer (m/f/d)

<ul><li><strong>Flight Control &amp; Autonomy Development</strong><br>Design and refine Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms for UAV platforms, including state estimation and control strategies. Enhance the flight stack to improve autonomy, robustness, and performance, while contributing to scalable system architecture. </li><li><strong>Embedded Real-Time Systems</strong> <br>Implement and optimize control software on RTOS-based embedded platforms and MCUs, ensuring deterministic real-time performance, efficient resource usage, and system stability. Support architectural trade-offs across performance, power, safety, and scalability. </li><li><strong>Sensor Fusion &amp; </strong><strong>Interfaces </strong><br>Develop and tune multi-sensor fusion pipelines (e.g., IMU, GPS, perception sensors) to deliver accurate and reliable state estimation. </li><li><strong>Verification &amp; Validation </strong><br>Support verification activities aligned with standards such as DO-178C, including requirements-based testing, SIL/HIL, simulation, and flight test support, contributing to certification objectives. </li><li><strong>CI/CD, Quality &amp; Documentation</strong> <br>Contribute to CI pipelines, static analysis, automated testing, and code reviews. Maintain clear technical documentation and design specifications to ensure long-term maintainability.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Cybernetics, or a related field.</li><li>5+ years of experience in embedded and/or flight control software development for complex or safety-critical systems.</li><li>Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded and real-time systems</li><li>Basic scripting skills (preferably Python) for tooling and automation</li><li>Experience with UAV state estimation and control systems or similar autonomous platforms</li><li>Hands-on experience with flight stacks (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot)</li><li>Experience integrating sensors (e.g., IMU, GPS) and communication protocols</li><li>Familiarity with CMake, Docker, Git, and automated testing frameworks</li><li>Strong debugging skills in simulation and embedded environments</li><li>Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams</li><li>Experience with safety/certification standards (e.g., ISO 26262, DO-178C)</li><li>Strong documentation and communication skills</li><li>Fluency in English; German is a plus</li></ul>
